The probably best-known 8 is the Elfstedentocht, where Bolsward acts as the conclusion of the first and the start of the second loop. The 8 fan Burgum works exactly like this. Glinstra State here is the closure of the first loop and the beginning of the second loop. Both loops are almost the same length: 50 km. We call these loops A and B. The A loop is characterized by the extensive use of paths not or barely a meter wide through extensive nature reserves.  And the A loop hardly passes through the villages. The route runs north to visit Buitenpost just short of Hurdegryp, Feanwâlden and De Westreen north. Glinstra State is reached again via it Wyldpaad and the Simmerwei. The coffee/tea and apple pie/filled cookie are waiting there. The B loop goes east and later southeast, a wide circle around the Burgumermeer. In addition to the paths and nature present here, this loop contains more passages through villages. This includes:. Surhuizum, Harkema and Sumar visited. The finish location is reached via the bridge over the Prinses Margriet Canal. And maybe the orange cake isn't there yet. In any case, certainly not the coffee. Most drive both loops (100 km), but a large number cycle one of the two, i.e. 50 km. And for those who think 50 km is too much: there is also a 30 km route. And that is part of the A route.
